HTM on a delegation trip to Japan – building bridges for international hydrogen cooperation πŸŒβœˆοΈπŸ—Ύ

24. April 2025

We are back from an inspiring business delegation trip to Japan, organised by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture and led by Minister of Economic Affairs Daniela Schmitt.

Our stations: Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya – impressively connected by travelling on the Shinkansen, a symbol of Japanese efficiency and progress.

🀝 Networks, insights and collaborations

The programme offered numerous highlights – including

  • A visit to the German Embassy in Tokyo
  • An exclusive networking dinner with high-ranking representatives from politics and business

But the real highlight of this trip was the opportunity to hold targeted co-operation talks with Japan’s largest airlines and airport operators thanks to the great support of the AHK Japan (German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Japan).

πŸ”‹ Japan focusses on hydrogen in the airport sector

What we have learnt: Japan is pursuing a remarkably pragmatic hydrogen strategy – especially in the aviation sector. The expansion of the infrastructure around hydrogen refuelling stations and H2-powered airport vehicles is progressing rapidly. Our discussions have impressively confirmed the high potential for HTM baggage tug retrofit solutions and other HTM hydrogen applications in airport operations. Β

🌱 Global partnerships for sustainable mobility

In addition to new strategic contacts, we were also able to strengthen existing local partnerships. We would like to thank the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs and the AHK Japan for the excellent organisation and support of this trip.

We look forward to translating the impetus gained into future collaborations – and working with strong partners to advance hydrogen mobility internationally.
